Scouts are professionals who discover raw talents at the lower levels. You can say they have a good eye for Pro-football quality.
Here are some qualities they look for in talents:
- Technical skills – Scouts want talents with exceptional playing skills. A player with the right skills for their position.
- Physique – This includes your strength, body build, weight, speed, stamina, agility, etc. Can you last 90 minutes on the field without fainting?
- Soft skills – Scouts look out how you relate with your teammates and respond to situations. Do you have enthusiasm for the sport? Do you show respect, confidence, discipline and ambition? There must be something that stands you out apart from playing skills.
If you have a special skill that stands you out, don’t be afraid to show it. And if you feel you don’t have some of the mentioned skills yet, remember that you can work to improve yourself.
